GRAND BLANC HUNTSMAN’S CLUB

Meeting called to order at 5:40 pm by Dale Statson. Motion to combine meeting by D. Fortier, 2nd A. Sikes, carried.
President: Dale Statson reviewed Robert's Rules of discussion: speakers should declare their position on subject.
Paul Harm of Lapeer Gun Club suggested a round robin of shoots at various clubs. D. Statson to follow up.
A plaque for Member of the Year has been ordered starting with Bob Flauding for 2005, Don Peterman for 2006.
RSO class to be 5/22/07. Irish Rd cleanup was performed. The MUCC shoot will be at Hunter's Creek.
Weed control was put in pond by barn. Next month to discuss an employee of the month. The skeet training class made $350. Next class this winter. Hunter's Safety had over 300 students.
Our insurance agent, Al Weaver, stated that MUCC membership was down 30% in the last year. Trap is down 11% locally.
Hugh Woody is ready to return, with doctor's OK. He will be a general employee rather than manager. We have Chris doing outside and JoAnn doing inside currently, with good results at lower cost. Chamber of Commerce shoot to be in October. A group from Linden will have a shoot here on August 11.
Minutes of previous meetings; April 2007 meeting minutes were approved.
Treasurer: K. Todd presented detailed report. Kirk can no longer be treasurer due to pressure of other work. K. Todd moved to have Dennis Hovatter return as treasurer, pursuant to a meeting with D. Statson. 2nd L. Curtis, carried. A. Sikes offered to step down from board if needed. Subsequent to the meeting, D. Hovatter has now stated that he could not return.
Membership: T. Santoro reported 4 new applicants: Tom Jackson (T. Santoro), William Quinn (D. Statson), Chuck Wiggins (D. Statson), and John Gartner (M. Paladino). Motion to accept by C. Henke, 2nd A. Sikes, carried. Our total membership is 406. A. Sikes moved to offer 10 Life Memberships with proceeds to be for a specific project. Motion withdrawn. T. Santoro moved to offer 10 Life Memberships with proceeds to be for the benefit of the club in future projects. 2nd A. Sikes, A. Sikes moved to amend the motion to offer to current members only, 2nd w. Esser, carried, motion carried. 8 yea , 1 nay .
Sporting Clays: R. Wilcutts reported that the May shoot had 75 shooters and made $2740. Next shoot is July 7. Manlift repair in progress. Wobble trap has been installed in trap house. D. Fortier moved to sell 3 excess LaPorte traps for $1500, 2nd L. Curtis, carried. Club Championship discussed. Cherry shoot is June 22, details in process.
Old Business:
Skeet house doors and windows being repaired. A. Sikes moved to get bids on a 24’ x 40’ pavilion, 2nd C. Henke, carried.
New Business:
A. Fletcher reported that the Flint Olympian CANUSA shoot is July 11 & 15. W. Esser moved to donate $250, 2nd T. Santoro, carried. A. Sikes moved to charge member rates for this shoot, 2nd W. Esser, carried. A. Fletched questioned opening the rifle range to police. Board is not in favor of this. W. Esser moved to sell the old Gator to J. Webster for $250, 2nd A. Sikes, carried. Plan is to fix repair it and keep at club for volunteer use only. D. Fortier moved to have monthly Steak and Clays in June, July and August, 2nd W. Esser, carried. A. Sikes to investigate Thursday 'Games Night'.
